When I bought the album, I was not certain what to expect. I knew Down On Me from it's radio play, but didn't know what the rest of the album would sound like. Nine times out of ten, I usually only like the songs I've heard before. This time, I got a good one! I was pleasantly surprised with it and am strongly considering picking up the other albums available. Having heard Down On Me, I expected the band to have a sound like Dokken and other hard rocking hair bands that are a little bit harder than the other bands. Since they started at the end of the hair bend trend (though a trend that produced the greatest music ever), Jackyl combined the generic rock and roll done hard and fast that hair bands brought to the table and also has a lot of the blues based hard rock like ACDC in their music. As a matter of fact, Brian Johnson, ACDC's lead singer, joins the band to perform "Locked and Loaded" which, not having heard it before, I can honestly say was alone worth the price of the album. It's just a great song, and this is a lot of great music that will help you smile. Again, it's a feel good bang your head, shake your butt, blow out the speakers in your car album that must be had by all! You will not listen to this album and want to crawl up in a ball and be left alone. It isn't awful grunge music that makes you feel depressed! It's not alternative which translates into depression! It's just great rock and roll music and there isn't a song on the album that I don't like!
