I got hooked on The Interpreters in January 1998 after seeing them in a free show at LaSalle University in Philadelphia. It was probably the best performance I have ever seen. The guys came out and just absolutely ripped through everything. I think they played 17 songs in 35 minutes or something like that. It was incredible. No breaks, sometimes not even standing up (having fallen to the ground with bass and microphone). And then they got some boxes out from under a table and sold their own merchandise. I picked up the CD on a whim (for 50 cents) when our campus radio station was having a clearance sale later that year. It is as good as that performance. These guys should have been The Hives, but for some reason, never hit it big. They broke up in 2000, after a bizarre, horrific performance at the Republican National Convention, which was probably their one big shot. This album is powerful. GET IT.
