Stan Kenton is remembered today as one of the great Big Band leaders of his era. When June Christy joined the Kenton Band in 1945 they recorded "Tampico" which is included in this album and became one of Kenton's biggest hits. These recordings take the listener on a journey back to a time when swing was king, World War Two was coming to a close, and America was poised toward post war prosperity. A remarkable jazz album!
