The 20th Century Masters series is the best-selling single-artist line in music history and is being re-released by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) in its ground-breaking, environmentally-friendly packaging format. A first for the music industry, the standard package (both sleeve and tray) will be completely paper-recyclable, continuing the company's long-standing commitment to being "green."

UMe is the first North American music company to replace the traditional jewel case with recycled paperboard sleeves and the plastic tray with trays made from PaperFoam®, a new packaging technology from Shorewood Packaging, a business of International Paper, that is paper-recyclable and biodegradable. Shorewood Packaging is the first North American packaging supplier to produce disc trays from PaperFoam®.
Toby Keith emerged in 1993 with the autographical hit "Should've Been A Cowboy." The rodeo's loss is country music's gain, as Keith has been one of its most dependable hitmakers over the past decade. This collection captures his first six years of hitmaking when he was on the Mercury label. Back then, his specialty was relationship songs, be they humorous ("You Ain't Much Fun"), reflective ("We Were in Love"), or wishful ("Dream Walkin'"). Best of all is the duet with Sting on "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" which hits divorce from a male perspective dead-on. This set adds only one extra hit from GREATEST HITS, VOL. 1.: the haunting "A Woman's Touch." Meanwhile, available on GREATEST HITS, VOL. 1 but NOT here are the good ol' boy anthem "Big Ol' Truck" as well as "Getcha Some," which offered a dopey delivery reminiscent of the Beverly Hillbillies theme song ("Black Gold, Texas Tea"). Unless "A Woman's Touch" is one of your favorite Toby Keith hits, I'd definitely go with the 14-track GREATEST HITS VOL. 1 over this 12-track collection. By the way, to the person who wonders why "How Do You Like Me Now" isn't on this set: Keith released that on his current label DreamWorks after Mercury rejected it, causing him to leave that label. There is NO WAY Toby Keith would ever let Mercury put it out on their label now.
