14. New York City Rain ------------------------ There's this really interesting story in Paul Ruderman's past. Ruderman, seeking admission to Tuft's University psychology program, wrote and recorded a song explaining why he wanted to be admitted and submitted it with his application. He never discovered if he was admitted on the strength of the song, but did find out that the people in the Admission's office loved the track. So encouraged, he ultimately decided to pursue a musical career and has achieved some degree of success, building a following with his band in the New York City club scene. He also released two independent CDs, those being MOVE PEOPLE in 1997 and THE OCTOBER SESSIONS in 1998. He has been compared favorably to James Taylor and Dave Matthews (talk about being damned with faint praise), and has opened for such disparate acts as John Mellencamp and Phoebe Snow.
