So... Warmer Milks... This is not easy listening. Most people will not like this band, which is a reason to buy it and listen to it repeatedly. Not that Warmer Milks is an elitist phenomenon, just it does not cater to lowest common denominator perceptions. Heavy, surf punk, psychedelia... a white trash on vacation (a Pabst Blue Ribbon with a lime wedge jammed into the CAN), please? There was a band I saw from Argentina in 5th Ward in Houston, TX with a lead singer with Down's Syndrome (the name escapes me) in 2000 who were great and Warmer Milks is quite reminiscent of that band... Not much of a helpful reference... like Sonic Youth if they mated with the Sun City girls and realized that being pretentious doesn't really make you cool... just pretentious. Warmer Milks do not come off pretentious... they seem phantasmagoric and mad (in the good sense)... Caterwauling, "See you in the fields... where I'm killing..." from the first track "In The Fields",sounds like a psychotic bluegrass yodel... Perhaps this is the soundtrack for a psychotic killing spree where the weapon from the crime scene is a single cadbury egg? Highly recommended.
