I never really was a Trina fan, but I decided that I would give her another chance anyway. The last time I heard from her was back in 2004, when she had a song floating around called "Leaving You (Big Ol' D)" (a semi-remake of LL Cool J's "Big Ole B**t") that named various rappers and talked about how big their goods are, basically giving us more information than we ever wanted to know. That song doesn't appear on this album, but it doesn't make things much better. Trina said in an interview that this album, The Glamorest Life, was three years in the making, and that just boggles the mind because the album is straight garbage. Aside from the fact that "glamorest" isn't even a word, it's especially surprising that this album took so long to make because Trina didn't even write half of the material on here. In addition, she's only alone on one track, "Reach Out" (a boring diss to a guy that called her phone without getting her number from her), which will make you want to reach out and snatch the CD out of your stereo. Another aptly titled song is "Throw It Back". Things are also unimpressive on the contradictorily titled "Don't Trip", where even Lil' Wayne outshines her. "Da Club" is also pitiful, and even though I think Mannie Fresh came out first, he's no Jazze Pha. But Jazze Pha's "It's Your B-Day" isn't great either. The guest spots also prove that maybe Trick Daddy is the only Slip-N-Slide artist worth checking out. Rick Ross isn't even rapping on beat on "I Gotta", and "So Fresh" has got to be the wackest song in the world. The subject matter hasn't changed, either; Trina still mostly talks about sex. Lyrics continue to fail on "50/50 Love" (featuring Trey Songz), especially when Trina says that when she taught women how to do their men, she "trained b's like Tyco". (Does Tyco even make trains?) Even the use of old R&B samples can't help matters, as evidenced by "Lil Mama" and "Here We Go" (which ruins Tony Toni Tone's "(Lay Your Head On My) Pillow" and Force M.D.'s' "Tender Love", respectively). However, Kelly Rowland's chorus on "Here We Go" is the only thing that made me give this album an extra half-star. Trina needs to just hang it up because she ain't soundin' too glamorous.
