Don't tell Jacki-o how nasty she is, she already knows. After several pushbacks (I think maybe ten million, to be exact) the Madam of Miami finally pulls up a chair and joins the other femme fatales of rap and lives it up. She may not be your mama's dinner guest, but Jacki-o can sure throw one hell of a nasty lyric and delicious backbeat. Several reviews have pointed out that Jacki's album is a horrendous, trashy work of craftmanship. I think they have missed the point. While she doesn't uplift women like Queen Latifah and MC Lyte, or garner the same mainstream appeal of Lil' Kim or Missy Elliot, that's really not her mission. Key in point: P***Y, the explicit, trifling piece of trash so good you will be singing it anywhere, and after all, it does 'pay her bills'. So what if Madam Jacki has nothing new to say, the bottom line is that her album is consistent with its material. The woman isn't trying to be someone she's not, and while she can't sing to save her life (all those curious check out the track Pretty), she sure does try. The album is full of potential radio hits, albeit edited and completley re-named for FCC's sake. "Sugar Walls" is all bombastic, bootylicious funk and an undeniable hook. Consider "Fine" to be middle-eastern crunk, with brothers Yin and Yang providing grimy down south call-outs, all the same you'll be dropping and rolling all night. Jazze Pha lends another potential and suprisingly tame hit "Break You Off", a perfect combo of r&b and hip-hop. Low on interludes, high on fun, crass, tastless, somewhat vapid, but altogether a cohesive slice of southern hip-hop- at it's finest... Ignore any negative reviews, because I believe many missed the point of this album. If you want a sista with higher prophecy on her mind check out rap bohemian Mystic, because there is nothing poetic here, just a lot of fun. Pick it up and enjoy. I see great things ahead for this ghetto socialite.
