I saw the Docs in NYC on St. Pat's day and ended up staying another day SOLELY so I could see them again the next night. It was at those shows that I first heard many of the songs on Sun Street and I was ecstatic when the album finally came out. This band tore the house down!!! I worked at a Cabaret in college and NEVER saw anything like the craic to be had at a Saw Doctors concert. Imagine a house full of twentysomethings, all hoisting their Harps, whipped into a frenzy by the high-energy tunes and familiar lyrics of the premier Irish folk rock band in the land. The Saw Doctors take you back to a time when playing music was fun - not a business. The sense you get when you see them is that they took an Irish tradition, playing music, and turned it up a notch, adding electric guitars to the flute and accordion, and making it (more) fun in the process. They don't take themselves, or their music, too seriously, and that's part of what makes it so grand. If you're curious, check them out. Look them up on the web and go to their next concert. (They play the Fleadh's in the States, but they're better indoors.) But be prepared. I GUARANTEE you'll have the time of your life.
