I am extremely impressed by the album "Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon. It certainly lives up to it's title, and then some. Every single song begins with an infectious hook that makes you stay glued to your CD player to hear. And the infectious hooks stay through the entire song to make them all incredibly catchy songs that will stay in your head all night. There are slow songs on the album, such as my personal favorite, "Give You Back", a melancholy song about being mixed up in love, and "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" which could easily become a classic with it's sad guitar hooks. Matt Scannell, the lead singer, has a voice very reminiscent of Peter Gabriel, which I think is a very good thing. This group writes all of their songs, and it's obvious that they do that very well. Some of the catchy tunes on the album are single-destined "You're A God", "Finding Me", and of course the hit "Everything You Want". This is pop music with a lot of rock thrown in. It's the first CD I have heard in a long time that does not try to incorporate rap or R&B into it. This group just tries to be themselves, and after being around for 9 years, I'm glad they got the break they deserved. If you don't have it yet, go out and buy "Everything You Want". I promise, it's worth every cent!
