Well, the story goes something like this. I think COLD is simply one of the most amazing bands I've ever heard, and I'm a big fan. COLD was coming to town for a concert at a small little dive and due to circumstance, I wasn't going to be able to go. I was pretty ticked off, but that's just the way it is. At the last minute things sort of came together and I was able to go. Aside from a great show by COLD I was able to sit and talk to Scooter Ward and Terry of COLD for about 20 minutes after the show. All in all a great night. What does any of that have to do with PMM? Well, so far not too much. But another very cool thing happened that night. PMM was one of the opening acts for COLD. I was blown away. PMM was simply awesome. Great show, great presence, and THUNDERING drums in their live show. Justin Bennett is a great talent; hopefully he'll be getting his due soon. After PMM was done with their set and COLD was still setting up I met the guys in PMM (I told you, this is a SMALL venue). Every member of the band was extremely cool and they all played great. After seeing the show and speaking with the band I told `em that I would be picking up the CD as soon as it came out, and of course I did. I certainly wasn't disappointed. For me the highlights on this CD are definitely "Darker" which is a very heavy, thundering, fast paced and dark song with great the addition of cellos. Very eerie effect with the cellos and programming. The CD also has a cover of The Cure's "A Night Like This", and it's a great cover. You could hear the song, and not even realize that it's a cover since the music is so different and that's not a criticism. The music is pure PMM and fits the lyrics extremely well. They made it their own song. There isn't a bad song on the CD, and if there is any criticism to be made its that some of the songs sound a bit similar. That really isn't a bad thing though, since they all sound so great. The CD does come with a liner that includes lyrics which is very helpful since it's not really too easy to make out what Roman is saying most of the time. The bass and guitar are strong throughout the album and these guys do a great job of presenting this aggressively gloomy electronica industrial metal sound that I haven't really heard from anyone else. Groovy stuff. Some of the guest appearances on this album include DJ Lethal from Limp Bizkit and Troy Van Leeuwen from A Perfect Circle, how's that for contrast? Josh Abraham produced the record and he is known for work with bands like Staind, Korn, Orgy, Limp Bizkit, Depeche Mode, Coal Chamber, and PW5K. He brought a strong track record to this album, and it worked. The list of bands he has worked with before should you give you some vague idea what PMM sounds like, just blend all those together. All in all, it's a very good CD and well worth the money. I can't quite place my finger on whom to associate PMM with yet, sort of an Orgy just not so much a pop band, more metal and MUCH better than Orgy. Definitely try to hear some PMM, they're a great band and this is a great CD.
