First here is a list of the songs on the album: Now As the Train Pulls Away, Goes Without Saying, She Walks on Roses, Black Cloud O'er Me, Resplendent, Starry Eyed, Extreme North of the Compass, Nothing Like a Train, But Not for Long, Any Side of Anywhere, Good Luck Charm, Could be A Lot Worse, and Solar System. This album is typical VOL, which is good. "Now as the Train Pulls Away" is a haunting starter, "Goes without Saying" is much rockier. Most songs on this CD are either country-rock upbeat songs or country-folk haunting ballads. Perhaps my favorite song is the melancholic "Resplendent," which features Emmmylou Harris on background vocals. It reminds me of Bob Dylan's album "Desire" which also featured Emmylou. "Nothing Like a Train" is another great song, about Bill's aging and being on the road. The album ends with "Solar System" which is good, but not as good as the last song on the pre-release of Audible Sigh entitled "Your Part of the Story." But the album is still great. It is produced by Buddy Miller, who also plays mando-guitar and 12 String guitar. Also to all who are interested, VOL still blends Christian overtones with human experience.
