With new addition to zebrahead Matty Lewis on this album you can tell the band means business. Broadcast to the World is the successor to zebrahead's critically acclaimed third release, MFZB. MFZB had the highest testing alternative song for months running with "Rescue Me". MFZB also went gold in Japan! Playmate of the Year, released in 2000 to rave reviews, the album's infectious title track received over 4000 spins on Modern Rock and Rock radio, garnering airplay on some of the nation's biggest alternative stations. Meanwhile, its provocative companion video, which co-starred a harem of curvy Playboy playmates and was shot at the Playboy mansion, was steaming up television screens across the country. Broadcast to the World has all the electrifying energy of a live zebrahead show, blending raging tempos and ringing guitar lines into surging, insistent choruses that stick after a single listen. Editorial Reviews MFZB was probably the best pop-punk record released in 2003, with unique dual vocals and better hooks than most bands can say they've ever written. With the release of Broadcast To The World, two things become evident. 1) Justin is no longer in the band. 2) Zebrahead have lost alot of the hip-hop/funk element that made them so unique. Broadcast To The World is not a bad record by any means, but after such a stellar LP like MFZB, I was expecting ALOT more! The hooks here just aren't as memorable, and the production/mixing/recording isn't great either. The two bonus tracks on this JP Import edition (Riot Girl, Down In Flames) aren't real good or worth shelling out an extra 10 bucks for, so I suggest waiting until the US version drops here in late OCT. 1.
